Get a product called microban.. Microban is a broad spectrum disinfectant proven effective against most bacteria, fungus and mildew odors caused by bacteria and germs. It truly is the best of both worlds – potent disinfecting properties with safe active ingredients.. Find the source of the scent, you must eliminate the source of the mildew. it might be in places like under the seats.. leave microban on carpet for 10-30 minutes and the use a wet vacumm to suck it up.. then leave it to dry.. (best to do this on a really hot day.. it's important to let it dry completely). you can order it from www.jondon.com good luck..
The mildew smell is probably from your carpet not drying. Shampoo the carpet again using a product that removes mildew, making sure that you remove as much woisture as you can.
Sure, practically anything is fixable. How much fixing you'll have to do depends on where the damage is and how long the area was wet. If it's just carpet and the water didn't sit long enough to cause mildew you may be able to use an ordinary carpet cleaner from a can to clean up any mess. If the water sat longer a vacuum type carpet cleaner might work. If the water sat quite awhile then you'll probably have to pull up the carpet and perhaps replace it, still a simple job. If there's mildew then you have to dig deeper. Pull the carpet, clean the floorpan really well (with bleach) and replace the carpet/pad. If the water was high enough to reach door panels and upholstery they may have to be replaced but still, no technical skills required, just remove and replace. Now, if the whole car was flooded and the water reached up under the dashboard, junk the car. You'll never get rid of all the mud/dirt/mildew and you certainly don't want to foist the car off on someone else. Cheers

The smell of mildew in your car's AC system is usually caused by moisture buildup in the system, which creates a breeding ground for mold and mildew. This can happen if the system is not used frequently or if there is a clog in the drainage system. Regularly running the AC and cleaning or replacing the cabin air filter can help prevent this issue.
