If it is shifting in any way other than what was originally programmed, you should find out what's wrong and repair it. For example, If the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is disconnected or not functioning properly, the transmission will shift extremely hard, and the vehicle can feel as though it was hit by a large hammer.

If the transmission is shifting normally but you want it to be a little more firm, or if you want it to shift at a higher RPM, you will need to change some of the set-points in the on-board computer.

Unfortunately, the computer interface to do that is quite expensive, and you will probably need to go to a transmission specialty shop.
