The thermostat is located under the thermostat housing at the end of the upper radiator hose engine side .you will need to remove the hose then the housing hopeing al the while you do not break the housing upon reinstall or the bolts either removing or reinstalling them ,also you will need to scrape the old gasket off and use a new to put it back together .But all this after draianing the coolant down below that point of the engine while the engine is cool.Don't work on hot engine.
Follow the top radiator hose to the thermostat.

This is a 15 year old vehicle. The thermostat is very cheap insurance. Just replace it when performing a cooling system service. Replace it by removing the old thermostat, carefully cleaning off the old gasket. Install the new gasket & thermostat, spring toward engine block, and tighten to factory specs, and no more.

The spring goes towards the engine and if there is a vent hole , the thermostat is installed with the vent hole at the top if the thermostat is installed vertically
