If you don't have 2 keys you'll need to call a locksmith or the dealership. Before you call the locksmith, make sure you have the four digit PIN code to your vehicle. The dealership has the PIN code and will give it to you for FREE with proof of ownership to the vehicle. The can also give you the key code which is helpful at the same time. Add a key when you already have two: 1) Insert one the programmed transponder keys into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the switch to the "ON" position 2) The key should be in the "ON" position for 5 seconds but not more than 15 seconds. Turn back to the "OFF" position. 3) Within 10 seconds, insert second programmed transponder key into the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. The VTSS ( Vehicle Theft Security System ) or Immobilizer System lamp (depending on model ) should start to flas. An audible tone will indicate the system has entered the " Programming Mode ". 4) Within 45 seconds, turn the switch to the "OFF" position. Insert the new transponder key and turn the switch to the "ON" position. After approx. 10 seconds and audible tone will sound and indicator lamp will illuminate briefly. This will let you know key has been programmed. 5) To add aditional keys, repeat steps 1 - 4.
Go to your Chrysler dealer and ask them to program it.

Yes. If you have a grey key, it has a transponder that electrically reads a chip in the key. You essentially have two locks -- one mechanical and one electrical. They both have to work to start the car. Should you go and have a generic key cut that fits the ignition, even thought the mechanical lock cylinder will turn -- the transponder won't allow the engine to fire. Any quality locksmith can program the car's transponder to match the electronic code of the key.
Transponder Chip Key
It's not anything you can do yourself. Any Toyota dealer or well equipped locksmith shop can "flash" the chip in the key.
You can't. Only a Toyota dealer can program the transponder key as it has a chip inside the key and has to communicate with the engine in order to start the car. Toyota dealer charges 1/2 hour of labor about $42 to program. Now the remote is easy...but not the key.

No. The suburban didn't get a transponder key until 2007.
The easiest way to get around the Transponder Chip in your 99 Ford Ranger is to have a chip programmed and mount it under the steering column cowling close to the inductor coil on the ignition lock. That way you can use non Transponder keys to start the vehicle.
If you have chip keys, the dealer will need to program the keys to the new PCM.
No, a 1991 Chrysler New Yorker does not have chip key.
No. Only the '07-'08 Aura, Outlook, Sky and the '06-'07 Relay use transponder chip keys
