im going to guess you havent removed the seats yet so ill start there. recently replaced on my 96 highline and my 98 sport (acr) First: pull up rear seat cushion and set aside. Second: remove the torx bolts that hold the seatbelt buckles to the car. these also hold the seat back in place. Third: lift up on rear seatback and remove from car. Next: now you can reach the rear deck pad (carpet). this is easiest to remove from shelf when side seatbelts are fully extended. pop out seatbelt guides and slide carpet along seatbelt webbing and into trunk. congrats you can now remove the speakers. there are 4 screws per rear speaker. i suggest using factory screws to install aftermarket speakers. all neons use 6x9 speakers for rear. be sure to use speakers rated 180w peak or better. else youll have to replace again soon. installation is reverse of removal. est time for project 1h30m. due to rusted bolts. be sure to reinstall carpet window side first, seatback must "hook" into car b4 bolting in and be sure to tighten seatbelt bolts fully. theres no bolts for seat cushion. hope this helps.
