How do you replace a rear brake light bulb on a 1999 C280 Mercedes Benz?

This is very easy. Just be gently with everything.

1) Open the trunk.

2) Behind each tail-light inside, pull the carpet lining gently away from its secured position under the black plactic interior of the trunk.

3) Behind this sturdy carpet is a grey box panel that is the tail light bulb holder. There is a finger knob with arows. One direction says Close (or "Zu" in German) and the other says Open (or "Auf" in German). Turn it in the open direction.

4) The panel is now loose and ready to be removed from its position. Do this gently and slowly as you do not want to break the bulbs or pull on the wires that connect them to the car.

5) You will see all the light bulbs. Whichever bulb you need to replace, push down on it, allowing it to be tuurned slightly counter-clockwise. This will free it so you may take it out.

6) Once you have your replacement bulb, place it in properly and gently until it you can turn it slightly clockwise, securing it in place.

7) Now just put the grey box panel gently back into place, turn the finger knob to the close position, re-secure the sturdy carpets edges beneath the black plastic interior of the trunk.

8) Your bulb is successfully replaced.
