To start a 1995 Rover with an immobiliser, first ensure you have the correct key, as it contains a transponder chip that communicates with the immobiliser system. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position without starting the engine; this allows the system to recognize the key. If the immobiliser light on the dashboard goes off, you can then start the engine. If the light remains on, the key may not be recognized, and you may need to use a spare key or consult a professional for assistance.
Take you logbook and 2 forms of id to your local rover dealer they normally charge £20 for this service then they will give you a four digit code this has to be entered via the door lock so it can overide the imobiliser

To disarm the immobiliser on a 1995 (N reg) Rover 214, you typically need to use the original key fob that is programmed to the vehicle. Ensure the key is functioning and has a working battery. If the fob is unresponsive, you may need to manually unlock the car with the key, as some models allow for this to bypass the immobiliser temporarily. If you're still having trouble, consulting the owner's manual or a professional locksmith may be necessary for reprogramming or troubleshooting.

The 1995 Land Rover Discovery has a timing chain.
What I did was get a new ECU that had the Imobiliser removed, perhaps not so secure but they are known to be trouble. Cost about £80. Had no problems since.
