To stop a water leak in your 1998 BMW Z3, first identify the source of the leak, which might be due to worn seals, clogged drains, or damaged weather stripping. Inspect the convertible top and its seals for damage and replace them if necessary. Ensure that the drainage channels, particularly around the windshield and convertible top, are clear of debris. If the leak persists, consider consulting a professional mechanic for a thorough inspection and repair.

I believe the heater core is leaking and the oily film you see on the windshield and on the floor vents is actually antifreeze. Don't know if the leak is small enough for STOP LEAK to stop it up, but it might be worth a try as a quick-fix.
