To wire a coil to a 305 Chevy engine, first ensure the ignition is off. Connect the positive terminal of the coil (often marked "B+" or "12V") to the ignition switch's power source, typically a wire coming from the ignition switch. Connect the negative terminal (marked "B-" or "GND") to the distributor's ignition control wire. Make sure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent shorts.
Ignition coil is bad, is it right on top of the cap maybe a bad wire in the wirng harness or bad connector.
attach the green wire to the negative terminal of the coil. if its an hei, it will have a terminal that says tach on it.

The coils are bolted to the ignition control module, there is no coil wire as such.
The Chevy starter does not have a ground wire, the starter grounds through the starter casing.
I have 1994 GMC 1500 with 305 mother if you cut the wire that comes from your ignition to the coil can it stop you from having fire to your
well it is the bottom that goes on a ignition coil and it is locoed
It's sitting on top of the distributor cap.
The 305 Chevy could not fire for several reasons. The crank sensor could be bad, the coil could have failed or there could be a loss of power to the ignition circuit.
Tachometers are installed on the positive side of the coil. If you have an older HEI distributor, you should find a male terminal where the electrical connections go designed for a tach installation.
Follow the wire that comes out of the distributor (obviously not the wires that go to the plugs)
1 wire.
