Wolves have an exceptional sense of hearing and can detect sounds from as far away as 6 miles (approximately 10 kilometers) in optimal conditions. Their acute hearing allows them to pick up high-frequency sounds, which helps them locate prey and communicate with pack members. Factors such as terrain and environmental noise can affect this range.
