  1. Start off on U.S. 44 WEST/NY-55 WEST crossing the MID-HUDSON BRIDGE to get out of Poughkeepsie; once you have crossed the bridge follow signs to U.S. 9W SOUTH (to NEWBURGH).
  2. Take U.S. 9W SOUTH to Newburgh, where you will follow signs to I-84 WEST.
  3. Follow I-84 WEST (briefly) to I-87 N.Y. STATE THRUWAY (toll road) to ALBANY and NEW YORK off EXIT 7A; follow signs to I-87 THRUWAY - SOUTH to New York City.
  4. Take I-87 THRUWAY - SOUTH to I-287 SOUTH to New Jersey off EXIT 15.
  5. Take I-287 into NEW JERSEY and around NEW YORK CITY to I-95 N.J. TURNPIKE (toll road); follow signs to the TURNPIKE - SOUTH.
  6. Take I-95 SOUTH all the way down to I-40 EAST to WILMINGTON off EXIT 81B in North Carolina. To bypass RICHMOND-PETERSBURG, VA, take I-295 SOUTH (VA) (take EXIT 84A off I-95 in VIRGINIA to get onto I-295 SOUTH towards ROCKY MOUNT, NC).
  7. Take I-40 EAST to WILMINGTON, NC.
