One of the important things about Daytona Beach is the NASCAR. In the 1920s-1930s, Daytona Beach became well known for setting world land speed records, thereby replacing Belgium and France who were known as the former record holders and the preferred location for land speed records, with 8 consecutive world records set between 1927-1935. Daytona beach became the place for racing enthusiasts and fifteen records were set between 1905-1935 on what became the Daytona Beach road course. Hope this helps.
