My friendly local MapQuest site shows this to be just under three and a half hours if you take the Ca Hwy 46E route inland to pick up the I-5, and then go south. It's just under 200 miles, and you have a better chance with traffic, even if you do have to breach the Tejon Pass in the process.

Conversely, if time is not of the essence, and you want to sight-see or stop along the coast on your way south (until you get to Oxnard), you can take the US-101S route most of the way. It's only about 210 miles that way, and should only take about three hours and forty-five minutes, traffic permitting.
