Based on the average miles driven per year in the U.S. which is 15,000 miles it would not be uncommon for a 1988 model to have 345,000 miles on the odometer. Realistically a car driven that many miles would be worn out. So there is no real way of saying. If it is still running then you can assume it has lots of miles on it. But then again maybe the owner only drove 5,000 miles a year. In that case it could have 115,000 miles on it. Look the car over very carefully. High mileage is hard to hide. Look for signs of wear and if you are contemplating purchasing this vehicle have it looked at by a trusted mechanic.

135,000 miles. The average car is driven about 15,000 miles per year. Since a 2006 was likely purchased in late 2005 (when the model came out), that means the car is about 9 years old. 9 x 15,000 = 135,000 miles.
