I was in a small town in NC (lost) and was taking directions from a lady at a gas station. She told me to turn at the first street which was supposed to be "Providence" and go over the railroad track to get to where I needed to be. Well, I did as she said and right when I turned and crossed the track, I looked up for the name of the street and it had an number instead of a name. This got me worried because I had to meet a business partner very shortly. Well, I looked to my left and behind an old building was a police car. He scared me for two reasons. One: I was in a new area and he would have scared me no matter WHO he was being behind the building he was and as lost as I was. Second, I saw him follow me and I figured he saw the look of fear in my eyes and was going to question me and I would be late for me meeting. Well, turns out...there was a stop sign right over the rail road tracks and me (being completely new and lost in this town) didn't see it when I was looking up for the name of the street on the left hand side. He asked me if I saw it and I told him that I didn't. I told him that I was lost...I told him everything. He just went back to his car and wrote me a ticket. He said his "camera" got me. I am through with the "crying phase". (See, I just left my abusive husband and my kids disowned me for that--I'm starting my life over and doing a good job at that with the Lord at my side) The policeman didn't care about this--He just said: "Sorry, about your personal problems....very cold person. He told me that I didn't have to go to court and that it would not show up on my driver's licence in ANY WAY AT ALL. (No points or anything) I just wanted to leave because of the pressing meeting. He gave me the ticket and now that I have had time to exam it I would like to know just a few things. It says on the back that if I wish to contest the charges or appear before a judge, I must appear at the time and place specified on the front side of the ticket. HE GAVE NO TIME OR PLACE ON THE TICKET. This same statement is placed on the ticket two times...Still there is NO TIME OR PLACE SPECIFIED ON THE FRONT SIDE OF THE TICKET....as the ticket states. This is my personal thought on this entire situation: Why do policemen punish people who are honestly new visitors to their town...and LOST to BOOT! What ever happened to the policeman who was there to "Help" in the time of need? I NEEDED this policeman's help A WHOLE LOT more than I needed a ticket. I am 42 years old and I have NEVER had a traffic violation. This was an honest mistake that happened during a moment of confusion. No matter how many times I go back and do it again, I will still run the light because I have NEVER been to that small town & I was lost. Now, if he had given me a WARNING. I would have remembered both the stop sign AND I would have kept some respect for the policemen in the town. As a result of what he did, I will not run the light again, but the town and the policemen have lost my respect. I wonder if this is the way the entire police force feels as a whole. I wonder if this is the way the town counsel wants their town to be portrayed. The only way that I will be back in that town is if I HAVE to go back! If ANYONE knows ANYTHING that can help me, please post something. I am a full-time student and have a work scholarship that only brings in $300 a month. The ticket he gave me will cost $171 including court cost! I was in my father's car who has been so kind as to let me drive it. (My Ex husband left me with NOTHING) I'm not a looser...I'm a winner. I'd like to win this case against me...or at least have the fine reduced to an amount that I can actually pay. Thanks

Can you get CDL license with suspended license?

It won't stop you from getting a licence, but a conviction of a charge of driving on a suspended licence usually adds four points to your drivers licence. If it occurred within the last three years, four points is going to be enough to prevent you from being able to find employment as a CDL driver.
