As Bob Dole would say, it depends. It depends on the age of the car, the usage, and the maintenance. I like to say...you either have car payments or repair bills. The older and more use the car gets, the more repair you will have. The reason is that the parts wear down. From transmission, shocks, brakes, etc, it is just inevitable you will have to repair or replace them. Keeping good regular maintenance will keep this down.
