Park the car on a level surface. Drain the oil and change the filter. Add 5 quarts of the correct weight oil and start the engine. Let it run for 2 minutes and then shut down. Wait 30 minutes and check the oil level. Add as necessary to reach the full mark. You now know the capacity.
The recommended oil for a Ford 300 is Shell Rotella 15w-40. If cost is an issue, regular 10w-30 or 10w-40 oil can be used.
My 300 six has 25 psi at idle and 40 psi on the road. I run 10w-40 in it. I have heard that for each 1000 rpm's it should have about 10 psi of oil pressure.
