Non-acetone nail polish remover on a cotton ball. It works instantly with very little effort. Afterwards I would recommend washing the area with soap and water.

Get some rubbing compound from the auto parts store. Dab a very small amount on a wet sponge. Work the compound in a circular motion, rubbing very lightly. Rub off with a damp cloth. Wax lightly when done.
