your guage must be broke unless you didnt put any gasoline in it
Failed gauge, wiring, or level sensor.
check your ground wire to the gauge
Your check gauge light comes on if : your coolant temperature guage shows the temperature is high your oil pressure gauge shows the oil pressure is low or your fuel gauge shows the fuel tank is near empty
Perhaps there is an insufficient gas level in the tank?
My 2001 had the same problem. There is a GM recall to replace the sending unit.
the engine will shows overheat sign on the heat gauge
take the gas tank down and replace the fuel sensor.
The gas light may not illuminate when the tank is empty due to a malfunction in the fuel gauge or warning system. Sometimes, the fuel level sensor may fail, causing it to misread the fuel level. Additionally, certain vehicles may have a reserve fuel amount that allows for a short distance to be driven after the gauge shows empty, which might delay the warning light. Regular maintenance can help identify and resolve such issues.
The gauge does not cause the heat; it only shows what it is.

A fuel gauge.
If the fuel gauge in a 1992 Volvo 740 always shows empty and the warning light is on, it could be due to a faulty fuel level sensor in the fuel tank or a malfunctioning gauge itself. Additionally, wiring issues or a blown fuse could also cause incorrect readings. Checking the connections and replacing any damaged components might resolve the issue. If these steps don’t work, a diagnostic inspection may be needed to pinpoint the problem.
