When you bought the salvage, the junk yard should've given you a 'salvage' title.

You don't buy cars without getting a title. Talk to your state DMV and hopefully it's not stolen!

Good luck.

How do you go about getting a title for a vehicle that was bought from a salvage yard that was going out of business if the salvage yard didn't have the title to the vehicle you bought?

Go to the state Motor Vehicle office, where you would normally register a vehicle. There may be extra steps to take to get title for a salvaged vehicle. Don't buy cars without getting a title. EVER. If the car was stolen you may have to return it.

How can you make a salvage title on a RV camper into a clean title in Illinois?

Unfortunatly no there isn't... Illinois has the worst laws around with this, you can thank all of the buy here, pay here lots this state has to offer. A salvage title, depending on the county and city, means the main structure of the vehicle is damaged beyond safe repair. In Chicago I know they will not register that vehicle at all, and else where in the state. However, if you register a salvage title to a "lost title" by using the original owners name you can get away with it if you settle on an agreement they sold you the vehicle with no title in hand. Filing for lost title can take from 6 weeks to 6 years depending on the vehicle. I have a 1966 VW Bus that I filed for in Chicago in 2007 and still have no title...

You bought a car from a dealer he did not disclose that the car has a salvage title is there any recorse?

Not all states require a salvage title. Any recourse would have to be determined by the laws of the state in which you currently reside. If your state does require a salvage title, then the dealer is responsible for making sure you have that information. A lot of dealers buy vehicles from auction houses around the country and they may have gotten a vehicle that they didn't know that information or the state where it was purchased didn't require a salvage title. So you will need to look at your state laws and also the total history of the vehicle to see what laws apply.

Where can you buy a rebuilt differential for an 2003 Explorer?

What happens if you buy a car unaware of salvage title?

what happens if you buy a car unaware of salvage title? well, if it was from a dealer you have recourse. if it's from a private seller, too bad...UNLESS they sold you the car with a clean title when they knew it was salvage. did you look at the title before you bought the car? if it was clearly branded as salvage or totaled you're out of luck but if it was a clean title when it actually wasn't you can try and get a refund from the seller or sue. If you sue you will have prove the seller knew the title was salvage at the time of sale. good luck!!

Can you buy a salvage vehicle in new york and register it in Pennsylvania?

yes

If you purchase an auto with a salvage title does that mean the vehicle is no longer road worthy?

It does not mean that the auto is not road-worthy. What it does mean is that the auto has previously been in a wreck and considered totalled by the insurance company. Many times, an insurance company determines it is cheaper to "total" the auto than to pay the costs to repair it. Auto body and repair shops will scout around for later model autos that have been "totalled" and buy them to repair and re-sell. The shops will usually check and make sure that the frame is not bent and that most of the damage is just body damage. Because the auto has been previously "totalled", the title is issued as a salvage title.

What is a recondition title?

When purchasing a vehicle, check the title for any "remarks" on the title that will denote any discrepancies such as:1) Reconditioned, 2) Salvage, 3) Flood, 4) Theft recovery, 5) Stolen,6) True miles unknown, 7) Exceeds mechanical limitations, 8) Out of state title Remarks such as these above are causes for alarm. Also, be aware of the limitations of a CARFAX vehicle title report. A vehicle with a "Recondition" or Salvage" title has been rebuilt from the junk yard. These vehicles have been declared a total loss and not repairable. These vehicles should be sold to salvage yards for parts. However, many totaled vehicles were never give a "Recondition" or Salvage" title. "Curbstoners and unethical dealers and repair shops buy these totaled vehicles and cosmetically repair the damage. Other remarks such on a title such as Flood, Theft recovery, Stolen, True miles unknown, Exceeds mechanical limitations, or Out of state titles can be types of "Reconditioned" or Salvage" vehicles. While these cars with these titles may look good, many are structurally and mechanically unsound and worth only a fraction of book value. Caution: Titles which contain the above discrepancies can be "washed" or "cleaned" by simply transferring the title to another state that does not include discrepancies on the title. A professional inspection will detect these discrepancies even if the title has been "cleaned."NOTE: The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) has 17 alpha numerical characters. (The letters "I", "O", and "Q" never appear in a VIN.)

I am in NC 2 years ago I bought a car with salvage title but the seller didn't say it's a salvage vehicle. After I paid it I found the problem. Is there anything I can do now?

If it was a private party there's nothing you can two about, especially two yrs later! Always buy a car that has a current and local title (not out of state), run a Carfax and call in the title or VIN number to your state DMV to make sure the title is clean BEFORE you buy any car.

In what state or county can a salvage tittle be turned into a clear tittle?

Can you insure a salvage title car?

Some companies will let you buy liability insurance. almost none will offer full coverage. A salvage title means the car has already been totalled before.
