In my opinion it is better to try and get the ticket changed to a non moving violation. I am a truck driver and receive more than my share of tickets and found out in the past that if you can talk personally to the pros. attorney some times you can get your ticket changed to a non moving violation. It is better in the long run to pay extra to get it ammended than to let your insurance co. charge you more for 3 or more years.

AnswerThis depends on the rest of your driving record. I received a ticket 2 years ago and was offered the option of $76 fine and 3 points or a $90 fine and 2 points. I took the 3 points since it was my only ticket in 20 years and would have no impact on my license status or my insurance rates. If your license is in danger of being suspended if you get any more points then take the 0 option, if not then take the cheaper option. I would be very surprised if the ticket can be reduced to a non-moving violation.

Driving points can often be reduced by participating in a Driving Safety Course. You can find these courses through your State Department of Motor Vehicles.
