I live in Phoenix. Though its been a little less than a year here. I already know its not for me. Truthfully this isn't much of a city or a Metro, and its a shame it was allowed to become such a mess. Can't imagine why developers or politicians allowed this disgrace of sprawl and lack of definition to the area. I would only recommend the area to someone, that is oblivious to living where there is a sense of place. Which Phoenix has none. The most bland and sprawling atmosphere one could find. Combine that with the dry, dusty and air pollution. Its abit much.

Stick with San Antonio, by no means perfect. There is no utiopia in the USA. However San Antonio feels more like a city, that had some thought put into into its development. It has its history and its cultures. Yes it has its sprawl but it has a core. It has its downtown and its a people place unlike Phoenix. There are restaurants and walkable areas along its river. Yes touristy but a lot better than Phoenix and its culture of drive, drive and then drive somemore to the same stripmalls. San Antonio just feels more homey and doesn't have that walled in feel that Phoenix has. I'd say SA felt more friendly in its culture. Unlike that walled in feel that creates the never seeing your neighbors culture in Arizona.
