Interference.
Interference.
The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine in a 2000 Subaru Outback is an interference engine ( according to Gates , they make timing belts etc. )
Yes
If the engine is an interference type serious engine damage will result. If engine is noninterference type it will just stop.
According to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) the 2.4 liter - 4 cylinder engine in a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus ( IS NOT ) an interference engine
if its a 2.5 liter v6 it is The 4 cylinders are also.
Valves can bend if the timing belt breaks, so it is interference.
Technically no, but I have seen valve hit valve when the timing belt breaks.
The Chrysler Concorde has a timing chain, which is supposed to require no changes, however there have been problems with the 2.7 liter V6 timing chain which would ultimately destroy the engine.
no it is not an interference engine
No it is not an interference engine
I believe all modern Toyota's have non-interference type engines, but the Echo does not have a timing belt, it has a chain, and there is NO predefined replacement interval for the chain (hope it lasts for 300,000+ miles). This is one of the nice features of the Echo/Yaris.
The 4 cylinder has a belt that MUST be replaced every 120,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine.
