ESP on Jeeps and most newer vehicles stands for electronic stability program. ESP includes such functions as traction control, ESC (electronic stability control), and BAS . BAS stands for brake assist control. All of these functions help control the jeep when the computer senses wheel slip, it corrects itself by reducing engine power and/or applying the brakes any given wheel. When the ESP light is flashing that means the system is active, when the light is solid, the ESP system has turned off the ESC and traction control, BUT NOT BAC!! The only way to turn off the ESP completely is to pull the 20amp abs fuse.

They are warning lights, not diagnostic codes. The ESP (electronic skid protection) and BAS (brake assist system) lights stay on when there is a malfunction. You will need to have the ABS (anti-lock brake system) computer checked for codes. They are warning lights, not diagnostic codes.
