To locate the thermostat, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine where it connects to an aluminum cowling. Just below and slightly to the left is a second cowling with a radiator hose leading downward and to the left. This cowling houses the thermostat. Remove the two bolts and pull off the cowling. You may need to rock and twist it. And note that unless you drained off some radiator fluid using the lower radiator hose or the valve at the bottom of the radiator, about a pint of fluid will flow out. Once the cowling is pulled away you will find the thermostat sitting inside a large black rubber O ring. Don't try to pull the thermostat from the ring. First use a screwdriver or putty knife to very carefully pry out the rubber ring, then the thermostat can be easily removed from the slit that holds it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Don't over-tighten the two nuts or you might crack the aluminum.

The coolant temperature sensor on the 2007 Suzuki XL7 is typically located near the engine's thermostat housing. It is usually positioned on the engine block or intake manifold, depending on the specific engine configuration. For accurate identification, refer to the vehicle's service manual or consult a professional mechanic.
