The humming is caused by a " idol control valve" on top of the motor. It controls the amount of air going to the motor, and when it gets dirty or broken the humming starts. You can take it off and clean it out, (with brake cleaner) but my truck had 200,000 miles on it so I got a new one. It's only 2 bolts, easy to get to, the part is about 26 bucks most places.
Good luck.

It is typically positioned near the camshaft or the distributor, depending on the specific engine configuration. To access it, you may need to remove some components, such as the air intake or other nearby parts for better visibility.
