My name is Dragan Konakov and my wife has 2002 Escape V6 AWD . At 116.000 miles the car started with misfires and very goofy driveability problems ; to make the long and expensive story short, after air and fuel filters, all spark plugs , new coils ( 6 of them ) , new upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, vacuum lines and PC valve and hoses and having the same problem - intermittent rough idle and 15 MPG AT MOST, we had to replace the ECM ( engine computer - in the top of the engine compartment ) and well over $700 later ( $460 for the ECM, $120 for the programming and $85 for the new PATS key and programming of it ) the car is running like brand new and the gas mileage is 20 MPG in local driving and up to 24 MPG on the parkway usually going 70 mph !!! The car is fun and we love it - fast, roomy and easy to live with, but I wish we knew about the ECM at the beginning. Good luck !
