You can buy a relatively inexpensive puller for that at most auto parts stores.
On most newer cars, the crank pulley is one piece with the harmonic balancer.... Remove it with a harmonic balancer puller.
you should use a tool called a harmonic balance puller. the balancer came off in two pieces and the second piece that's still on the crank shaft won't come off
The balancer is made of 2 pieces That have a rubber piece in the center of them that hold the balancer together. If the balancer comes apart YES it will knock / make noise and the engine would vibrate/shake. You would be able to move 1 piece of the balancer with your hand if that was the case. Check it.
Not that I know of. I use a piece of threaded rod that fits into the crank along with a few heavy duty flat washers and a nut to draw the balancer in.
The balancer has a piece of rubber that holds it together, The balancer is made of two pieces with rubber in the middle, and the rubber is coming apart. REPLACE BALANCER. The Pulley that's bolted on the balancer may be bent or not on stright and flush on the balancer, That would make the balancer look like its wobbleing too.
In most cases no, it is two pieces pressed together with rubbber in between. It is called the vibration damper or the harmonic balancer.
To remove a harmonic balancer from a 1992 Buick Regal Custom without a puller, you can try tapping it gently with a rubber mallet while applying a bit of penetrating oil around the crankshaft. Alternatively, you can use a piece of wood or a metal block to protect the balancer and use a hammer to lightly tap it, gradually working it loose. Ensure that the crankshaft bolt is removed first, and be cautious to avoid damaging the balancer or crankshaft. If it’s stuck, using heat from a heat gun can also help expand the metal and facilitate removal.
Slide the balancer on the crankshaft snout as far as you can by hand, then put a harmonic balancer installation tool in and crank it down until it bottoms out. If you can't afford to buy the tool, you can make one with a piece of 1/2-20 threaded rod, a nut, and some big thick washers. Put grease between the washers so they will slip easily while you're tightening the nut.
No they do not. If you look at it real close you will see that it has a piece of rubber between the 2 steel parts that make the balancer, the rubber has sliped / worn out. The balancer is made of 2 pieces of steel with rubber in between them. REPLACE BALANCER. Before you take it apart make sure that the pulley that is bolted to it is not on crooked are bent. May just need a pulley put on it.
You Will Need Breaker Bar, 15/16 socket or metric equivalent, piece of pipe to increase length of breaker bar. Remove the fuel pump fuse Place socket on big bolt in the centre on Harmonic Balancer with the Bar and pipe on top on the passenger side chassis rail. Turn car over a few times, the nut should loosen. Remove Balancer with a claw puller or if you're lucky it may just wiggle off.
to solve your problem you simply need to drive that piece straight off a cliff, however, it may take a few tries to get through the guard rail. but i did this and i have not had problems since.
I had a 94 buick regal that did tis. It was a 250 dollar repair job. It was the piece that spins the power accessory belt on the engine. I think its called a harmonic balancer
