You have two motors that benefit cooling, the condenser fan motor ( outdoors) and blower motor ( inside). Outside you may hear a noise, kind of like an out of balance noise). Inside, a little trickier. Noise may or may not be present, cooling quality decreases, ANC you may notice your filters may be staying cleaner longer. However, as with anything electronic, when it goes it goes..a tech can determine if motor is going bad, drawing high amps, plugged, etc....but will not have a definitive answer as to how long it will last! Think about a battery, they work until they don't.
They get noisy, squeal and vibrate. Also if you keep burning out the blower motor resistor, that is a sign the blower motor is on its way out.
Common signs of a bad blower motor in a vehicle include weak airflow from the vents, unusual noises such as squealing or grinding, and the blower motor not working at all.
Common signs of a malfunctioning AC blower fan motor include reduced airflow, strange noises coming from the unit, inconsistent cooling, and a burning smell.

Usually if it's bad you can just turn the heat on with a medium fan speed and follow the smell of burning plastic. It should be under the dash on the right hand side near the blower motor. It has a bunch of wires going to it and 2 wires to the blower motor. Note that on many of these trucks, a defective blower resistor can burn the electrical connector. Always check the connector for signs of damage when replacing the resistor and if it's damaged, replace the connector as well as the resistor.

It depends on what warning signs that you are interested in. Many sites offer guides on how to spot the warning signs for illnesses etc. If it is to do with motoring check the highway site for details.
