The newer engines this filter fits is the 2.4 DOHC that came in the Sunfire GT and Cavalier Z24 as a performance engine, the Grand Am, Malibu and Alero as a base engine. It also fits the LS series of engines. While the truck version called for a longer filter from 1999ish to 2006ish this shorter filter will fit.
