Have a 2.5 ton h/p with 67 psi low & 140 high psi. (R-22) . Cooling ok , why such low pressure on high side? Ambient temp. 88 F.
To determine the head pressure consider the condenser coil surface area, if it is large and high efficiency go ambient plus 25F convert to pressure according to refrigerant used.
Design conditions are 95 ambient and 80 indoor, you will have approx. a 125F condensing temp which with R22 will be about 270 psi.
you need to take the 88 and add 25 or 30 and convert to pressure, the head pressure must be at least 100 psi above the low side for a cap tube to operate normally.
non condensebles in system dirty cond coil high ambient poss over charge
What make of unit is it? What does the sound sound like?
5 Causes of high head pressure: 1.) Dirty condenser tubes 2.) High temp entering condenser water 3.) Low flow of condenser water 4.) Water bypassing at division plate 5.) Non-condensables in the system
high head pressure and a higher supply temp.
The low pressure air conditioner port can be found on the top of the air conditioner compressor. The low pressure port should be labeled as such.
The 2000 Acura air conditioner low pressure service port can be found on the top of the air conditioner compressor. The low pressure service port will have a blue top.
The pressure for an R410a air conditioner system should be 118psi LP and 412psi HP. This is the same pressure as an R22 air conditioner.
overuse of the fuses
The 1998 GMC Jimmy air-conditioner low pressure for is located on the top of the air conditioner compressor. The low pressure port will be marked as such.
An air conditioner dehumidifies the air by cooling it down, which causes the moisture in the air to condense into water droplets that are then collected and drained away.
An air conditioner can freeze due to low refrigerant levels, restricted airflow, or a malfunctioning thermostat.
