It could mean that there is a leak in the system near the spot. The system cycles oil with the refrigerant, and when the refrigerant escapes through a leak it can release oil, which will leave an oil spot.

Can you install a 3.5 ton condenser on a 3 ton evaporator?

Installing a 3 1/2 ton condenser on a 3 tr evaporator will not function properly. There isn't enough evaporator coil surface area to absorb heat and vaporize refrigerant liquid for its return back to the condenser compressor. What can be done is a 3 ton condenser unit with a 3 1/2 evaporator coil.

Why is the indoor unit not call an evaporator?

The coil that serves the inside of the house is called the indoor coil. The reason is that the indoor coil is a condenser in the heating mode and an evaporator in the cooling mode.. (pg. 1077)

Is their gas in home air conditioners?

Yes. Refrigerant turns to vapor in the evaporator coil and returns to liquid in the condenser.

What are the symptoms of low freon levels in a central air conditioner?

your ac / evaporator coil can freeze up. check you liquid line ( smaller refrigerant line by ac evaporator coil) if line is pounding and very hot, chances are your system is low on Freon ,,, also check condenser and ensure that its clean an condenser fan / fans are operating as designed.

What is the line side on central air unit?

Do you perhaps mean the 'lineset'? If so, it is usually a copper line (actually 2 copper lines) running counter-currently. They connect the indoor evaporator coil (above furnace or air-handler) to the outdoor condenser. One tubing carries the refrigerant gas from the indoor evaporator coil to the outdoor condenser and the other line carries the condensed (liquid) form of this gas back to the evaporator coil for it to be evaporated again and be converted back to gas. This is the refrigeration cycle of an A/C unit.

How can you save freon when replacing the evaporator coil?

You can save some of it by: Close condenser valve to evap coil - Use guages to prevent exceeded max pressure. Run compressor to store gas in condenser. Cut off evap return line at compresser. Replace evap.
