The "Header" is the first part of the exhaust system from the motor to the rear of the vehicle. It collects the exhaust gasses from each cylinder, and equals the pressure on them by twisting, or turning around itself to prevent backfires ( or exhaust re-entering the chamber). It then flows into a catalytic converter to lower emissions, and this is also where your O2 sensor is located. It then flows to the muffler to quiet the noise, and then exits the tailpipe.
adding headers will allow engine to breath better and boost up horsepower but not by much, headers also make you vehicle louder with pipes.
5-15+ depending on vehicle and type of headers.
If you think about it yes they would cause headers flow better but when I say they will I'm not sure how much louder they will make your vehicle.
If your looking for raw open power than no. But you can't drive a vehicle on the roads with open headers. So it's mainly off-road trucks or high hp mud trucks that run open headers.
Engine specific. T he headers need to bolt onto the exhaust ports on the engine so regardless of the car the engine must be the same
If the vehicle was built with an oxygen sensor, you will need an oxygen sensor.
headers are street legal ,as long as they are installed on an exhaust system with the proper emission control , and mufflers. open headers without cats, and mufflers are not street legal. if the vehicle is pre 1968, only mufflers, are required as cats were not in use at that time.
Yes, open headers are illegal in Pennsylvania. Vehicles must have a properly functioning exhaust system that includes a muffler and exhaust pipes to direct the exhaust gases out of the vehicle. Driving with open headers can result in a citation and fine.
It does depend on the engine, but I'd shoot a little higher and say headers will give a good 15-30 hp 3 or 4 hp depending on the engine
Borla headers are by far the best aftermarket headers available for performance cars and trucks.

all engines have exhaust headers but the headers your thinking of are aftermarket performance headers, the ones on the 440 from the factory are made of cast iron.
