Possibly seized up AC pump or AC clutch causing the belt to spin around the pulley burning it rather than spin the pump. Look for blobs of melted rubber sprayed anywhere in the area. Happened to me yesterday.
She used to smoke, but she stopped a while ago.
It could be many reasons but the first one that comes to my mind is a broken/slipped timing belt, if the engine even has a timing belt.
An air conditioner should not smell like smoke when turned on (or when turned off). I would have to suspect that the electrical insulation is burning.

Possibly the power steering pressure hose. It leaks onto the manifold and smoke comes out from behind the engine near the firewall.

hi the black smoke is your injectors should get them checked out. if they are the electrical 1s, they charge to test them, if they the non machincal version its free to test them.
