When an O2 sensor goes bad, it can lead to incorrect readings of the oxygen levels in the exhaust gases, causing the engine control unit (ECU) to miscalculate the air-fuel mixture. This may result in decreased fuel efficiency, increased emissions, and poor engine performance. Additionally, a failing O2 sensor can trigger the check engine light and potentially damage other engine components over time if not addressed. Regular maintenance and timely replacement of a faulty O2 sensor are essential for optimal vehicle performance.
exaust leaks , faster if its before the 02 sensor
Your 1992 Chevy Lumina will run with a bad 02 sensor. The engine will seem to be sluggish and the fuel mileage will go down.
It's an issue with an 02 sensor and the heating circuit to it. Not necessarily a bad 02 sensor, but the car is not going in to closed loop when it should. In open loop the ECU ignores the signals from the 02 sensors, during cold start until the sensor(s) are heated enough to go in to closed loop and the ECU uses the signal from them
If driving around in a car that the o2 sensor is going bad can cause a few things to go wrong. The best thing you can do is get it fixed.
A crankshaft sensor can go bad if due to an oil leak. If oil breaches the sensor itself it will burn out.
The vehicle will miss or not even start. The sensor picks up the crank and then tells the computer when to inject fuel and when to fire the spark plug. It might sound like the timing is out but its all the sensor.
shaking jerking when pressing on gas
it could be the DPFE sensor that's what was causing my 02 to surge like that i was told that is a common sensor to go bad. it cost about 75 dollars and took me about 5 min. to replace.
The sensors that usually go bad in a Dodge truck are the throttle position sensor, the oxygen sensor, engine light sensor and crank sensor. These malfunctions can be fixed on any Dodge dealership.

tighten your gas cap, then leave the battery cables off over night and it should clear right up. if not, then your 02 sensors are bad......again. they go bad all the time. i bypassed mine with a sensor cause i live in the humid south and my ram runs lean because of this. if you live where it is cold then you maybe running rich. if an 02 sensor is off by.2% then it will cause a fault. correct air/fuel ratio is 14.1% and its nearly impossible to tune a fuel injection motor to those specs thus causing the 02 sensor to default
