I'm English so I say TYRE. Tyres have three size measurements. Lets say 185x50x15 for example. 185 is the width of the tyre measured in cm. 50 would be the 'profile' which is the distance from the inner diameter to the outer diameter also measured in cm. So anything less than 50 is a low profile tyre. The 15 is the diameter of the wheel in inches. If you alter the outer diameter of the profile of the tyre as used in this example, your speedometer will read incorrectly as that is governed by cogs inside the gearbox. A 10% difference is acceptable here in the UK in order to pass the MOT test, but if the new tyres alter the speedometer too much you might have to change the ratio of the cogs in the gearbox in order for the car to pass it's MOT. Car manufacturers go to great lengths to make cars safe and economical, minor changes may be acceptable, but if you go extreme, please be careful cornering and running the vehicle to the max. Hot, Cold, wet, or fully loaded and you could be in trouble.

You can use any 15 inch tire but you could blow a gasket eventually since your engine is set to work with a specific size tire. Also your speedometer will be wrong if you don't use a 215 60 R15.

Will a 2454018 tire work on a 2007 Buick Lucerne?

Sure it will work but the question is will it change your vehicle in a positive manner. The answer to that is no. The correct size tire for your car is 245/50-18. If you install a 245/40-18 tire your speedometer will be off by at least 5 mph. Your car will also use more fuel, and ride and handle differently, and not in a positive way. So why would you want to use the wrong size tire?

How do you measure bicycle tire size accurately?

To measure bicycle tire size accurately, use a tape measure to determine the diameter of the tire in inches. This measurement should be taken from the outer edge of the tire tread. Additionally, you can also check the tire sidewall for markings that indicate the tire size, such as "700x25c" or "26x2.0".
