Either the sensor is out of whack, or you have a leak.
coolant temp sensor,does just what it says,it relays your coolant temp to gauges!
The coolant goes into the reservoir only that says coolant. You don't put it in the radiator.
If youre already over him dont bother. But if your still into him take the opportunity. :-) Hope this helps

The later models (2003 (I think) on) do not have a drain cock. The manual says to remove the lower radiator hose at the radiator. Nice touch, GM!

you always should mix coolant with water if it is full coolant. most coolant today says 50/50 on the package and is pre mixed in which case no, but if it is straight 100% coolant, yes mix with water.
Under the hood on the left side in most cases there is a place to put in radiator coolant.. It is usually next to the windshield wiper fluid... It says radiator coolant on it

there should be a clear white juglike thing that says coolant on the lid... look at the liquid level on the container
