TAPshift is when you don't have a clutch, and you have paddles (usually on your steering wheel) that allow you to manually change your gear to be able to do things such as redline and maximize your performance. You are still able to drive it like a normal automatic in 'D' mode, but you have the extra package available on the side.
The shift lock solenoid is located on top of the steering column. You will need to remove the steering column covers, lower dash trim, and the heater duct. Remove the steering column bolts and lower the steering column to access the shift lock solenoid.
To replace the steering column gear shift arm in a 1995 Toyota Avalon, first disconnect the battery and remove the steering wheel and airbag if equipped. Then, detach the steering column cover to access the gear shift mechanism. Remove the retaining bolts and disconnect any wiring or clips attached to the gear shift arm, then replace it with the new arm and reassemble the steering column components in reverse order. Finally, reconnect the battery and test the gear shift operation.
SOMETIMES IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. TRY JIGGERING THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND.

To install a Dorman steering shift tube on a 1995 Ford Aerostar, first, disconnect the battery and remove the steering column covers. Next, detach the old shift tube by removing any retaining clips and bolts, then carefully pull it out from the steering column. Install the new Dorman shift tube by reversing the removal process, ensuring it's securely fastened and properly aligned. Finally, reassemble the steering column covers and reconnect the battery.
You may have to tap, with a small mallet, on the power steering pump in order to remove it.
