Any will work fine, Mobil 1 is considered to be the best of major brands. Mobil 1 use to be the factory oil of choose, no BMWs come with castrol. The main thing is to change it regularly. Since the factory has to pay for them now( maintance covered leases) they do it at 15,000mls. I won't go past 5000mls. between changes. I've seen 3yr old lease cars with sludge deposits under the valve cover because of the oil change interval. I've also seen e28 m5 (30yrs old) with cylinder head u can eat off of, because the customer has it changed early.
BMW recommends Synthetic 5w-30 either Castrol or Mobil 1 I believe. It takes 6.5L (6.9QTS)
for a complete oil change, the 2001 bmw 750iL requires 8.5 quarts or 5W30 or 5W40 full synthetic oil.
7 QUARTS OF SYNTHETIC OIL.
BMW recommends 20W-50 oil for R bikes. No synthetic until after 10K miles.
I have a 2002 325i Sport and I have been advised by a loval BMW dealer to use Shell Helix Synthetic. .
Always use synthetic oils in BMW's.
Any name brand oil will do, but synthetic oils are better. Generally summer it is 10w30 and winter 5w30 for new cars and 10w40/10w30 for high mileage cars. However engine oil rated for diesel engines are best and you can get a synthetic diesel oil recommended by BMW from Bavarian Autosport, Lubro Molly, 5w40/10w40.
use BMW Synthetic 5W-30 oil or Mobil 1 Synthetic 0w-40 oil
synthetic oil
Synthetic oil only
A BMW 325 takes about 6 or so quarts of synthetic 5w-30. Do not use conventional oil unless you hate your BMW. You must use synthetic.
Castrol Full Synthetic 5w30 is what BMW recommends
