It is 360 miles taking this route:

  1. Take HIGHWAY 99 - SOUTH, from Madera, to I-5 SOUTH to LOS ANGELES.
  2. Take I-5 SOUTH to San Diego, via I-405 SOUTH (EXIT 158 off I-5) to bypass LOS ANGELES. NOTE: at the end of I-405, you can either connect to I-5 SOUTH to SAN DIEGO directly via I-405, or you can go indirectly connect to I-5 SOUTH to SAN DIEGO via the TOLL ROAD (SR-73 SOUTH at EXIT 10 off I-405). Taking the TOLL ROAD is a less busy route than connecting at the El Toro Y (southern connection of I-5 and I-405), and may save you time.
