It depends on how many therms you use. Any energy or gas related contract you sign can be legally rescinded by you 10 days after it is signed. After 10 days you cannot rescind the agreement unless you have a zero dollar cancellation fee. Rather than knowing the current price, it wont do you any good unless you know how many therms you use and what the average price is per each quarter of the last 5 years. Dont stop at therms. I use to work for an energy company and they do their best to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to what their customers are thinking. Just dont sign anything that has a cancellation fee or and be sure to cancel before your term expires. They make money when you don't cancel. When they save you money, they lose money. Their game is; they do their best to make sure you forget about cancelling and that is when they can legally drain you of your cash or assets if you cannot otherwise pay. But you can beat them at their own game and and cash out before they get the chance. Also if you supplier is about to merge assets with another company cancel your agreement. This usually means you will be held liable to new terms without a consent required by you. Don't be afraid to go with a supplier, just make sure you excersise your rights as they are required to be stated in the "small print" of your contract.
