If it has the newer type service fittings which more than likely it does use R-134A, if older fittings use R-12. I'm not certain year that all vehicles had to have the R-134A fittings on them. A check with the EPA site may tell you what the cut -off date was.

There is a misconception that all refrigerants are freon. The EPA has band use of freon R12 in the USA. It is no longer produced stateside. The only refrigerant that is acceptable for automotive use is R134A. If you are to attempt to service your air conditioner you will need to know the exact amount needed. It is very critical on cars.

No it does not. Chevy did not use them in that year on there trucks.
R-134A. DuPont was the originator of this refrigerant (not Freon) and they called it Suva 134A.

for models older then 1996 you use 90 weight gear oil. 1996 and up you use tranny fluid.
