All TVs were CRT (Cathode Ray) meaning there were no flat screens. They were big, bulky, and powered by tubes and not transistors and the normal screen size was 17". Most were cabinet models that looked like a piece of furniture. In 1963 almost all TVs had a black and white picture with almost no color TVs on the market. TVs were very expensive and a major purchase. There was no cable or satellite tv. There were for the most part 3 channels. NBC, CBS, & ABC. The picture was brought into the home via an antenna mounted on the roof on on the TV in large cities. The programs broadcast were clean with no nudity or foul language allowed. There was plenty of violence.
