with out being plugged in,try a light weight oil 5w 30w or even 5w20.Heavy weight oil(the sales person at your local service center can answer your questions concerning this) gets kinda into the molasses mode(thick) when it's terrible cold.Makes cranking the engine difficult.Make sure battery is fully charged,or at least well charged.
