In a 1990 Chevy 305 engine, the oil dipstick is typically located on the passenger side of the engine block. It is a long, thin metal tube with a brightly colored handle, usually yellow or orange, that you can pull out to check the oil level. Make sure the engine is off and cool before checking the oil. If you're having difficulty locating it, refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for a diagram.

Dealer or Salvage Yard.
Either the dealer or a wrecking yard. If a chrome dipstick is acceptable, you can often get them in cataloges and performance shops.
