On the Ford windstars they are in the rear passenger side behind a panel. It usually says on the outside of the panel where it is. It should be in the same place on the Mercurys. Ford also puts them on the kick panel of the passenger side of the front compartment also in other models. It should be one of the two places. It usually says fuel cut-off though. If you are talking about the inertia switch that is related to deploying air bags then it reads the speed decrease from the wheel speed sensors or from the transmission. Good luck.
