Just replaced the Neutral Safety Switch on my daughters 1999 Cavalier. It's visible from under the hood on the the drivers side about a foot from the back fire wall. I was able to remove the lever CAP nut and one of the front bolt although you have to squeeze your arm(s) around some **** to get in there with a 10mm socket wrench. The last of the 3 bolts was sandwiched between a bracket that supports other things....Thanks GM! You have to remove the cap nut on top and then remove the bottom bolt of this bracket from under the car (had to do it by feel...total pain in the ****!) I removed the drivers side wheel and supported the car with jack stands, but had the car been running I'd have used ramps (but then again, I wouldn't need to replace the switch if it would actually start). This bracket bolt is on the Drivers side about 6 inches up from the oil pan.

How do you jump out a neutral safety switch on a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier?

You don't. It's not called a "safety" switch for nothing. Replace it. The manual for the car can be found on eBay for about 20-30 dollars, switch is probably about the same price. 60 bucks is a small price to pay to keep your car from going through the front of a 7-11 when you start it. : )

yes, the shift linkage has a switch to only allow the car to start in either park, or neutral. All automatic transmissions have a neutral safety switch. It is misadjusted or defective.

Bypassing the neutral safety switch on a Chevy Cavalier is not recommended due to safety concerns, as this switch is designed to prevent the vehicle from starting in gear. However, if you need to do this for diagnostic purposes, you can locate the switch on the transmission, disconnect the connector, and use a jumper wire to connect the terminals.
