Adding the indicator at the beginning of the iodometric titration can react with the iodine present, which can lead to errors in the titration results. By adding the indicator after most of the iodine has reacted, it ensures that the endpoint is more accurate and reliable.
Blood alcohol concentration is a more reliable indicator of intoxication because individuals have different tolerance levels.
E. coli is the most reliable indicator of fecal contamination due to its abundance and specificity to the gut. Enterococci are also commonly used as indicators of fecal pollution, as they are able to survive longer in the environment than coliforms. Clostridium perfringens can also be a reliable indicator of fecal contamination in water sources.
Iodine is not used as a self-indicator because its color change is not distinct enough to accurately determine the endpoint of a reaction. The color shift from brown to blue-black can be subtle and difficult to discern. Other indicators provide clearer and more reliable color changes for endpoint detection in titrations.
