illumination in manuscripts does currently exist. Most notable is the work of St. John's Liturgical Press in Minnesota. Here, under scribe, Donald Jackson, the St. John's Bible is currently being created through the work of several dozen scribes, illuminating and illustrating artists and calligraphers. This seven volume Bible contains various gilding methods: raised gesso gold illumination as well as flat patent gold technique. Recently, the Gospel of Thomas was also treated to the manuscript tradition by Carol Nichols, a scribe in Quincy, IL. Her manuscript has forty-five illuminations of Coptic lettering, the script originally found in the Nag Hammadi Gospel copy of 350CE. .SaintJohnsBible.org> and .letterata.com>
