1. Air in lines needs bled.
2. low fluid level. You can add brake fluid if you don't have proper fluid
3. pressure plate worn out replace clutch
With a pressure pad
You have a broken clutch.
clutch pedal over -centre spring pressure
When you engage the clutch and the engine sits there spinning: it get's no traction OR when there is no pressure on the clutch pedal: pressing it changes nothing.
turn your car on and pump the peddel with your hand till u get pressure then get a new clutch and master cylinder for the clutch
No fluid in the master cylinder
The clutch pressure plate is driven by the engine's crankshaft through the clutch disc. When the clutch pedal is engaged, hydraulic or mechanical linkage activates the release mechanism, allowing the pressure plate to disengage from the clutch disc. This disengagement enables smooth shifting of gears by temporarily disconnecting the engine's power from the transmission. When the pedal is released, the pressure plate re-engages, clamping the clutch disc against the flywheel to transmit power.
The pressure on the clutch is maintained by the clutch diaphragm spring or coil spring, which compresses when the clutch pedal is released. This spring mechanism ensures that the friction plates are pressed together, allowing the engine's power to transfer to the transmission. When the clutch pedal is pressed, it disengages this pressure, allowing for gear changes. Proper adjustment and maintenance of the clutch system are essential to ensure optimal performance and prevent slippage.
The pressure plate which forces the friction disc against the flywheel by means of spring plates. Pressing the clutch pedal down forces the pressure plate away from the friction disc and power transfer from engine to transmission is broken.
The surface of the pressure plate typically contacts the clutch disc in a vehicle's clutch assembly. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate disengages from the disc, allowing for smooth gear shifts. Upon release of the pedal, the pressure plate re-engages with the clutch disc, transferring engine power to the transmission. This interaction is crucial for the proper functioning of a manual transmission system.
You will eventually lose clutch pedal pressure and the car will refuse to shift into gear.
To replace the clutch in a Model T, first, remove the transmission cover and the rear axle to access the clutch assembly. Disconnect the clutch pedal linkage, then take out the old clutch disc and pressure plate. Install the new clutch disc and pressure plate, ensuring proper alignment, and reassemble the components in reverse order. Finally, adjust the clutch pedal to ensure proper engagement.
